Mimosa, marigold and guelder rose

Each week brings different delights with an incredible variety of flower coming into season. Spring is a key time for anyone working with flowers and its an abundant period and time of intensely vibrant colour. McQueens florist Gosia has been a florist for over fourteen years. She is a member of our contracts team and has been part of the McQueens family for over three years. Gosia shares her favourite flowers in season at the moment.

‘Spring is the glorious season for flowers and if you were to pay a visit to our store you will discover that you are spoilt for choice. There is a noticeable shift in the quality of flowers as we transition out of winter. The colours appear to be more vibrant and the quality of flowers is so much better with sturdier stems and bigger, brighter flower heads. My favourite flowers are never the same and it completely depends on the time of year. At the moment I am loving bright zingy sunshine shades. I love the combination of marigold, mimosa and guelde rose. Marigolds have a humble charm and I love to make the most of them at this time of year. Mimosa is a must-have at the start of spring. Mimosa is very unique. It straddles the foliage and flower world and I love it for the incredible scent. The season is incredibly short so I always like to make use of it before it slips out of availability! Guelder Rose has a much longer season and I adore it for the texture and the movement! This is the perfect combination for me and it’s a combination that I would enjoy to have in my home!'
