Halfpenny London

A Romantic Installation

Exquisite bridal gowns, the Halfpenny hallmark
Sweet-scented bouquet of ginesta
As a new season dawns and spring teases with a glimpse of sunshine, we were delighted to collaborate with Kate Halfpenny for the London Bridal Market event and the launch of their latest collection of exquisite bridal gowns.Kate is a firm favourite for brides from all over the world who love a blend of Brit cool, vintage chic and dresses with the gasp factor. With a formal background in fashion design – Kate is a graduate of London’s prestigious Central St. Martins – she has enjoyed a remarkable career as a stylist. Working with everyone from Kate Moss to Diana Ross, Kate eventually moved on to setting up her own bridal brand. Her latest collection was showcased at their London atelier to industry specialists to enjoy the season’s preview, meet the team and admire the exquisite gowns up close and personal.

The space was dressed by our weddings and events team for the occasion. The brief was ethereal and romantic and featured installations suspended from the ceiling containing rambling roses and poppies mixed with painted gypsophila and trails of asparagus fern. Simply bound hand-tied bouquets of sweet-scented genista were clasped in the hands of the models wearing the dresses, and to complete the transformation the space was beautifully dressed with vintage bottles containing an eclectic assortment of ranunculus, poppy, rose and decorative asparagus, all arranged in groups.

‘We love working on weddings,' explains Yeon Hee Lee, McQueens weddings and events manager.

‘Our collaboration with Kate Halfpenny represents the start of our wedding season and we are thrilled to be working with excited couples planning their celebrations. The Halfpenny team wanted romantic, ethereal and whimsical as a starting point for the event. Asparagus fern is enjoying an incredible come back, and dyed flowers and foliage is definitely a key trend. This was styled throughout the space to create a unique and romantic look. Genista (or broom as it is also known) is gorgeous at this time of year and the delicate bridal bouquets smell divine, and complemented the dresses perfectly!'

‘We love the room transformation,’ enthused Kate. 'Being able to showcase our new pieces in our London home is so important to me. I’m unbelievably grateful to everyone who came to visit us since Sunday. We adore the incredible installation by the talented team at McQueens Flowers. They are the best – they really can make anything happen, and we are incredibly excited to be planning projects together in the future starting with a fabulous project in New York!’
