A Passion for Flowers
HyeWon Lee

We have been excitedly following the adventures of our colleagues at McQueens Korea with the launch of our first international flower school based in Seoul. Members of our London team have enjoyed Korean hospitality as the project has developed with our most senior florist Zibi Zabara working closely with McQueens Korea and is now based in Soul for the next 12 months. So we were very excited to reciprocate the hospitality with a warm welcome to HyeWon Lee who will be hosting classes at McQueens Flower School in Korea.

Where did your passion for flowers come from?

I have always been fascinated by flowers from a very early age. I am very passionate about cooking and I chose to refine my skills and spent time studying at various cooking schools. I love to entertain at home and for me flowers complete the scene for any great party or event. Flowers have the power to change a mood and they never fail to lift my spirits. My husband is a football player and often travels around the world and he always sends me flowers and he notices how happy they make me feel!

What are your favourite flowers?

I have so many different flowers that I admire but peonies have to be my favourite! They have an amazing fragrance and I love the way they transform from a modest bulb to the most beautiful flower. They are captivating and I always love peonies when they are in season.

What had been your experience at McQueens Korea?

I really enjoyed studying at McQueens Korea with headteacher Zibi Zebara. The school has a wide curriculum with classes for all abilities. The teaching is inspirational and the teachers are very passionate - I am very excited to be teaching my own class at McQueens Korea on 29th May wehreI hope to share my own love of flowers. I have loved coming to McQueens in London and have had a great time with Sophie, the Flower School Principal.

What are your plans for the future?

I am excited about developing my love of flowers and plan to study and develop my skills. I am working on my lifestyle brand and plan to develop projects around all the things I love such as flowers, fashion, cooking and cosmetics.
