Our Guide to

Graduation Gifts

Flowers are universally acknowledged as the perfect gift. Not only are there endless beautiful varieties available in a spectrum of shades and scents, but many have been assigned meanings. The symbolism can vary from culture to culture and we love the unique language tradition has attached to the stems throughout history. Of course, you can buck tradition altogether and opt for stems which carry a personal significance - a treasured memory or lucky colour. One particular summer occasion that deserves a special celebration is Graduation, and flowers can play a part in conveying a cacophony of emotions - pride, hope, luck, love. Here we share some of our favourite designs and explain why they make a wonderful graduation gift.
The Summer Collection

The McQueens summer collection is a celebration of seasonality. Bouquet of the month, Catherine is filled with soft-sunshine hued Vuvuzela roses; yellow varieties are famously synonymous with friendship and joy. Heady stocks, trachelium and astilbe add to the gloriously summer vibe. In contrast, rainbow-bright Reina celebrates summer darling, the dahlia. Dahlias are said to hold a variety of meanings, including dignity and change - they are also the national flower of Mexico! Peachy-hued Melba is a bountiful combination of statement chrysanthemums blooms and feathery carnations. Orange chrysanthemums are often associated with messages of positivity and optimism.
Rose Bouquets

The iconic rose - such is its beauty the stem has been immortalised across the arts from poetry to pop culture. Their form wildly varies from vintage-style garden gems such as Gosford Park through to the classic Valentine’s silhouette of the Naomi variety, so it may come as no surprise that each type holds its own individual significance.

Our classic Endless Love design is bursting with red Naomi roses. Universally acknowledged as the colour of romantic love, the scarlet hue makes an intoxicating gesture. In contrast, Viola features the powdery violet version and are thought to be magical, symbolising enchantment, mystery and creativity. Alternatively, the bold Purple Adour bouquet brings together two varieties which are both associated with appreciation and gratitude - hot pink roses and lisianthus.
Bespoke Service
Of course, flowers are a personal gift and we encourage customers to work with our florists to create a bespoke design. Different stems hold special memories - from the blooms that featured in a wedding bouquet to a favourite colour - we love to tell stories through flowers.`

Don't forget...
